The Island peak (6189 m) is also, one of the popular peaks for the climbers in the Sagarmatha region which lays in Himalayan ranges of the eastern part of Nepal. Some group of British climbers who composed this peak name as Island peak in 1953.

It looks like an island in a sea of ice when viewed from Dingboche. Also, many people know this peak like Imja Tse. This island peak has been a popular choice of many climbers throughout the world.

First, the British expedition team climbed on the southwest summit of this Island peak in 1953, Charles Evans, Charles Wylie, Alfred Gregory, and Tenzing Norgay. However, the main was summit by Von Gunten and Hans Rudolf with unknown two Sherpas.

The journey to Island peak begins with the beautiful views of Gokyo, Khumbu, Thame even Imja Valley. Climbers have to fly from Kathmandu city to Lukla Airport before climbing to Island peak.

There are many scenic spots like Kalapathar, Gokyo Ri, and Chola. Apart from these views of Baruntse, Ama Dablam, Nuptse, Makalu, and Lhotse are the finest peaks for the observation.
